Looks similar to gnome-control-center dumps core

XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME gnome-control-center

Goes a little bit further, but still crashes.

According to Assertion failed in cc_shell_model_set_panel_visibility, it's a feature:
Really, we do understand that g-c-c contains useful features that can be usable from other desktop environments. However, we simply cannot support it when running in such environments and handle the issues that happen when things go wrong.

They should either provide a better way to abort (not crashing) or even allow it to run under non-gnome envs...

Nothing we can do, it's a gnome "feature".
