System Tray

Xpra System Tray

Xpra forwards windows for remote applications (or desktops), and it does not create any windows of its own so that it can stay out of the way. Xpra uses a system tray icon with a popup menu to allow you to interact with its settings.

System Tray Forwarding

Xpra can also forward the system tray of other applications.

This feature is enabled by default and can be controlled using the --tray=on|off option.

You can also delay the tray, so that it will only show up once a window is actually forwarded, using the --delay-tray command line option.

Caveats

Some desktop environments cripple the system tray api.

For example, gnome-shell requires topicons to function properly. (for more information, see ticket:1720#comment:17)
